I have a habit of moving fast. When an idea sparks, I want to act. When something feels uncertain, I want to fix it. That impulse has served me well in many ways, but it has also led me to rush into decisions that looked clear in the moment and blurry in hindsight.

When I sat down with Dr. Bidhan “Bobby” Parmar to talk about his book Radical Doubt: Turning Uncertainty into Surefire Success, something he said stopped me completely. He explained that most of us are wired to either pursue what feels rewarding or protect ourselves from what feels risky. The real power, though, lies in a third system of the brain, the one we use the least: the pause.

That pause is where our mind pieces things together. It is where curiosity replaces fear and where learning takes root. I realized how rarely I make space for it. I am usually either charging ahead or bracing for impact. Rarely do I pause long enough to see what I am missing.

But what happens if you learn to live in that space a little longer
